Our focus is to maximize the lifespan of your project.
We determine which materials are best for your structure. We place special consideration on sources, consistency of material, and overall durability. For capital projects we ensure materials are compliant to the projectโs specifications and durability requirements.
Condition Assessment
C3S, Inc. provides periodic conditions assessment services to clients on wide range of concrete structures from residential driveways, parking lots to parking garages and other infrastructures. Condition assessments are important to assess the following:
Evaluate of condition of concrete, rebar and other elements to determine the general existing condition through:
- Visual Inspections
- Non Destructive Testing methodologies like Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV) Testing, etc.
- Destructive Testing methodologies like Petrographic Evaluations, Chloride ion content determination, scanning electron microscopy
Evaluate reserve capacity of structures.
- Performing structural analysis to determine the reserve capacity of the structures.
Evaluation of Infrastructure at a Port Facility on the Gulf Coast, USA; Inspection of individual concrete piles and documenting defects.
Condition assessment and investigation of distress on a tilt wall commercial building.
Forensic Investigation
Forensic Investigation methodologies are used to identify general distress observed in concrete and other construction materials.
- We conduct thorough condition surveys
- Condition surveys are supported by field and laboratory tests, where necessary
- We identify problems and make appropriate recommendation for repairs
- Competent repair contractors are recommended to client for bidding process.
CONCRETE
- Concrete Cracking
- Surface Distress such as surface scaling, spalling etc.
- Reinforcement corrosion in concrete
- Alkali-Aggregate Reactions (ASR)
- Internal and External Sulfate attacks, Delayed Ettringite Formation (DEF)
- Acid attack
- Efflorescence, Loss of Strength and Physical Salt Attacks
- Poor Quality Control and Assurance โ Failure to Conform to the Project Specification during Construction
- Moisture Transmission on Concrete Slab-on-Grades
MASONRY
- Cracking, Bond Strength
- Mortar Evaluation โ Type, Composition, Condition, Comparison
VENEERS & STUCCO
- Cracking, De-bonding, and Other Failures in Stucco
- Paint and other protective Failure
The sample from Filter A, was found to be strong and durable; that from Filter B was weak. Average compressive strength of the strong sample is 8,440 psi; the weak grout tested at 1,860 psi.
Petrographic analysis and scanning electron microscopy showed stark differences between the two grouts. The cement paste in the strong grout is dense and compact; that from the weak grout is porous.
